REVIEW: This sporty SUV can handle ALL the curves

Pack your dramamine and hold tight!

Thanks to DriveShop, we were able to test drive a 2019 Mazda CX9 on our last road trip. We braved the backroads of Southwest Virginia, including the world-renown Back of the Dragon trail with over 438 curves in 32 miles, which is visited by 60K motorists a year.

The CX9 was a sporty SUV with frightful power. I was told to keep an eye on my speedometer, as the car is deceptively smooth. One could be going 80 mph on the highway without ever knowing it (or so I heard)!

Speaking of deceptive, the 3rd-row seating provided enough room for the entire family, including all our luggage.
