Nature + Horses

Natchez Trace Stables was ranked by Nashville Scene readers as the #1 day trip from Nashville in 2018. Fans of these trail rides rave about the beauty that can be found along the 2-hour journey on horseback. Often through streams and creeks and along rolling hills, the trail ride is touted for being peaceful with AMAZING views.

Who can ride?

Even the most novice of riders can feel comfortable on these horses, the owners reassure. Even children are welcome on the trails. So, it’s no surprise that Natchez Trace Stables also won Middle Tennessee’s Toast Reader’s Choice award for the “Best Place to Take the Kids” in 2017.

One traveler’s review of riding the trails on horseback.

My husband and I had an amazing time at Nashville Horseback Riding. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this business and our experience. I've been on many guided horseback riding trips and being an advanced rider, I usually leave feeling somewhat disappointed. Not the case here at all. We were truly aloud to ride to our experience level and everything was so chill and so relaxed.

We arrived on Saturday, met our horses (Aries and Tanner) and off we went. The staff took our camping gear to the site and set it all up for us. The trails and land were beautiful. We got to our beautiful camp site along the creek/river and our guides were so respectful to stay out of our way, but also give us everything we needed. They cooked us a wonderful dinner over campfire while we fished in the creek (All fishing gear provided by them).

After dinner we went on a 2 hour night ride. It was magical. We rode through the creeks, down back roads, through the woods, with no light other than a flashlight which was barely ever used. In all my years of riding, I've never done something so special. Simply trusting your horses eyes in the darkest of dark. Hearing all the sounds. It was amazing.

The next day we had coffee and ate breakfast provided by the staff and we rode for another 3/4 hours. We rode a lot in the creek. We took the horses in 5 foot deep water. These horses y'all, they were amazingly trained. Even my husband, who never rode before, was able to do things that usually only most experienced riders could do because his horse was so well behaved. We were able to run the horses, swim with them, go through super rural areas. We stopped at a beautiful waterfall and had lunch. Our guide tied our horses and left us alone for an hour. You just don't get that at most guided horse rides.

It was all around magical and 200% worth the price. I highly recommend this place to anyone. If you decide to book, let me know and I can get you a referral! Thank you so much Natchez Trace Stables!!
