1.Rolling Hills Golf Course, Russellville (drive time: 1 hour)

1600 Pine Dr., Russellville, Kentucky 42276-8823

Rolling Hills Golf Course is located in Kentucky. If you’re looking for an overnight or weekend getaway, you should try staying at nearby Bowling Green. This is a great option for golfers who don’t want to spend a lot of time in the car getting to the destination. It is so close to Nashville that the time commitment is minimal.

Helpful Golfer Review:

I loved the course. The greens were a little stressed but not so bad that you couldn't putt. The greens were fast! But the course is very interesting and challenging. I would definitely go again.

2. Whispering Pines, Myrtle Beach (drive time: 9 hours)

900 Harrelson Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

Across the street from the Myrtle Beach Airport and once an Air Force base, Whispering Pines is adjacent to Myrtle Beach attractions. Pairing this course with a beach trip to Myrtle Beach is a no-brainer. The drive is pretty hefty for a weekend getaway, so we recommend doing this trip if you have a nice 3 or 4-day holiday.

Helpful Golfer Review:

Course is challenging. Greens & fairways are well maintained. Getting out of the ruff can be a 🐻. Goes without saying, best to stay in the fairways. Fair amount of sand traps and water. Par 3's tend to play longer than posted. Although course is not comparable to top courses in Myrtle Beach, for the price, definitely worth playing.

3. Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Ross Bridge (drive time: 3 hours)

4000 Grand Ave, Birmingham, AL 35226

Next to Birmingham, AL, this golf trip can serve as a big-city getaway (if you venture downtown) or a quiet retreat (if you stay on-site at the Ross Bridge Resort). Ross Bridge Golf Course is part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama, and is considered one of the longest courses in the world!

Helpful Golfer Review:

This course is excellent and probably my second favorite on the trail. The size of this course is wild. It feels huge and has trouble everywhere. The course was in immaculate condition and I love the greens, they were smooth. I highly recommend this course if you are in the area.

4. Clear Creek Golf Club, Bristol (drive time: 4.5 hours)

732 Harleywood Rd, Bristol, VA 24202

Pair this golf course near Nashville, TN, with a trip to Bristol, VA. If you choose your dates correctly, you could hit town during one of the largest music festivals in the area: Rhythm and Roots Reunion every September.

Helpful Golfer Review:

Excellent choice for my Virginia round. Good price and very nice people. Number 8 and 9 were spectacular!

5. The Pete Dye Course, French Lick (drive time: 3.5 hours)

8670 West, IN-56, French Lick, IN 47432

Hey golf lover, would a golf course near Nashville, TN, that’s perched on a mountain top make you happy? We know this one will. The Pete Dye Course in French Lick, Indiana, is just one of the Pete Dye courses that makes the perfect, golf trip getaway. 6. Hidden Valley Golf Course, Livingston (drive time: 1.5 hours)

201 Valley Dr, Livingston, TN 38570

Book your tee times at this golf course just east of Nashville. Make a getaway of it by adding a stop in Knoxville, TN. Trust us, you have NEVER had a Knoxville trip like this.

Helpful Golfer Review:

It only has nine holes, and it has no sand traps, but the last time I played it the course was a solid par thirty-six.

7. Riverbend Golf Course, Shelbyville (drive time: 1 hour)

245 Riverbend Rd, Shelbyville, TN 37160

This private country club requires a membership (or a friend with a membership *wink). However, with its stellar ratings and its close proximity to Murfreesboro or Huntsville, you can make this a quick overnight or weekend getaway!

Helpful Golfer Review:

Some of the fastest and trickiest greens in the country. Hidden Gem.

8. Hermitage Golf Course

3939 Old Hickory Boulevard, Old Hickory, TN 37138

One of the coolest local golf courses around is Hermitage Golf Course. If you are looking for a golf trip, but want to stay as close to home as possible, perhaps you should check out one of the best golf courses in Nashville! Ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Tennessee, the Hermitage Golf Course offers the President’s Reserve, which is a local gem.

Helpful Golfer Review:

Awesome course! The entire Presidents course is in great shape! The sheep walking through were an added bonus! Staff was great too!
